B.J. Rains is an associate reporter for MLB.com based in St. Louis. He is a 2008 graduate of The University of Kansas where he received a BS in Journalism. While at KU, Rains was the football beat writer for the University Daily Kansan for the 2008 season and prior to that worked as the KU sports correspondent for The Associated Press for three years. He covered both the Orange Bowl Champion football team and NCAA National Championship basketball team during his time in Lawrence. He also covered high school sports for the Lawrence Journal-World and had a weekly column in the UDK. Rains, the 2008 Don Pierce Award winner for Outstanding Sports Reporting at the University Daily Kansan, is an avid sports fan and enjoys the outdoors.
